After 20 years in the music business, Franz Ferdinand has an impressive catalogue. The British indie rock institution from Glasgow is celebrating its anniversary in 2022 with a career retrospective and its first best of album.

'Hits To The Head' is the title of the 20-track greatest hits collection, which features songs from across their career, from their 2004 debut 'Franz Ferdinand' to their latest album 'Always Ascending'.

Included are hits like "Darts Of Pleasure", "Take Me Out", "(The Dark Of The) Matinee", "Do You Want To", "Walk Away", "The Fallen/L. Wells" and "Ulysses". In addition to the eighteen "old" songs, "Hits To The Head" also features two new songs, "Billy Goodbye" and "Curious", co-produced by Alex Kapranos, Julian Corrie and Stuart Price. The former was released in November 2022 as a precursor to the album.

"Hits To The Head" is available as a CD in a jewel case with a 24-page booklet with liner notes by JD Beauvallet (Les InRocks) and exclusive photos, and as a hardcover CD in book format with a 48-page, cardboard booklet with Beauvallet's liner notes, lyrics and exclusive photos. Also available as a double LP on black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with a 16-page booklet with the same content.

Franz Ferdinand were formed in 2002 in Glasgow, Scotland. The band originally consisted of Alex Kapranos (vocals, solo guitar, keyboards), Nick McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Bob Hardy (bass guitar) and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Julian Corrie (keyboards, solo guitar, backing vocals) and Dino Bardot (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) joined the band in 2017 after McCarthy left the year before, and Audrey Tait (drums) joined the band after Thomson's departure in 2021. During their career, Franz Ferdinand have released five studio albums, all of which have reached the Top 3 in Scotland and Top 10 in the UK. They are one of the most popular post-punk revival bands and have had several Top 20 hits in the UK.
