"Funky Nothingness", which is the working title Frank Zappa used for this project, consists of studio recordings from 1970. This release is essentially a sequel to "The Hot Rat Sessions".

Frank Zappa used a very stripped down combo with Don "Surgarcane" Harris on violin and vocals. The music focuses heavily on instrumental and blues-oriented material. This album consists of many unreleased tracks that Frank Zappa bypassed but kept in mind throughout his career. He just never got around to releasing them. Some of these tracks were almost included on "The Lost Episodes" album. Ninety minutes of music is mixed for the first time. The rest of the music was mixed and arranged by Frank Zappa.

The vinyl will only contain the tracks that FZ arranged and mixed.
