The eponymous debut album Emerson, Lake & Palmer , released in 1970, was a groundbreaking achievement in progressive rock. Co-written by keyboardist Keith Emerson, bassist Greg Lake and drummer Carl Palmer, the album showcased the trio's virtuosity and range, from the hard-hitting "Karn Evil 9" to the fragile "Lucky Man". Emerson, Lake & Palmer was critically and commercially successful, and the band released several more acclaimed albums in the 1970s.
