A year after their first album "Whoosh!" the British hard rockers will release their 22nd album in November 2021. "New" only applies to a limited extent, however, because it's actually an album of cover versions, a collection of "old" songs by various artists that Deep Purple reinterpreted in a completely new way. "Turning to Crime" is the first Deep Purple studio album to consist entirely of songs not written by the band [...]," reads the website specially created for the album. It was inspired by some of the great rock classics originally recorded by Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger, Ray Charles & Quincy Jones, Cream, The Yardbirds and others. Ian Gillan, Steve Morse, Roger Glover, Don Airey and Ian Paice have all chosen some of their favourite songs themselves for 'Turning To Crime'. Producer and friend Bob Ezrin, who worked with Deep Purple on the previous trilogy of albums ("Now What?!" , "inFinite" , "Whoosh!" ), was again an important part of the new studio effort. The full track listing can be found below. The whole thing will be released as a CD, either in a jewel case or digisleeve, and as a double LP on classic black 180g vinyl, as well as a limited edition crystal clear vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. There is also a limited box set with the CD in digisleeve and a black Deep Purple cap. Alongside the album announcement, Deep Purple have already released the first single from "Turning To Crime", the song "7 And 7 Is", originally written by Arthur Lee and recorded by his band Love in 1966.
