Five years have passed since the death of rock and pop icon David Bowie. In 2021, fans of the British musician and singer can look forward to a very special posthumous release. This week marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the British original of The Man Who Sold The World, David Bowie's milestone at the start of a new and hugely exciting decade. The album was not only the start of a collaboration with guitarist Mick Ronson that continued on Bowie classics such as Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane. It also kicked off a decade-long series of albums that music history can't be imagined without, dating back to 1980's Scary Monsters. In 2020, The Man Who Sold The World was re-released under its originally intended title, Metrobolist, with a new mix by then-producer Tony Visconti. The new 2CD The Width Of A Circle complements this reissue. The title is taken from the title of the opening track, which in turn is derived from an image of Bowie's friend George Underwood. The album contains 21 tracks, including singles not originally on the album. Also included is a recording of the BBC In Concert l concert, the music for the TV play and other Visconti remixes.
