Stanley Clarke - one of Chick's most stalwart musical partners - plays bass here for the first time, along with the excellent Joe Farrell on saxophone and flute, Airt on drums and the amazing singer Flora Purim. The sound is distinctly electric, with Brazilian percussion and a lingering warmth never before achieved on a plug-in jazz album. Return to Forever is an album for the ages.
