His 3CD box Le Violon Roi is a wonderful cross-section of Capuçon's diverse discography, from concertos to chamber music to encores - a feast for the violin! Capuçon can look back on more than two dozen albums, including full editions such as complete recordings of Beethoven sonatas, Brahms piano trios and quartets, and live recordings from the Lugano Festival. Le Violon Roi shows two things: On the one hand, we experience concertos by Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Korngold, as well as a wide range of chamber music to encores. On the other hand, the compilation documents the artistic encounters that shaped Capuçon's career - most notably, of course, with his brother, the equally gifted cellist Gautier Capuçon, but also with piano partners such as Martha Argerich, Frank Braley and Nicholas Angelich. The violinist achieved special musical moments with clarinettist Paul Meyer, flautist Emmanuel Pahud and violist Gérard Caussé.
