Seven Grammy Awards, more than 60 million albums sold worldwide: the 37-year-old singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario, is undoubtedly one of Canada's most successful pop stars. It all started in 1995 with the album "Jagged Little Pill", which Alanis Morissette worked on in Los Angeles with musician and producer Glen Ballard. In hindsight, her recipe for success was amazingly simple: she sang with verve and without false bottom about the things that others were at most thinking about, such as the desire for revenge that Morissette pined for her ex in the furious single "You Oughta Know." That she then had the hit "Ironic" is ironic, because there was really nothing of the sort on this great sore of the grunge generation. After Morissette gave this formula a spiritual twist in 1998 with "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" and the hit "Thank U", her entirely self-written and produced 2002 album "Under Rug Swept" brought her emancipation from Ballard - and a second number one in Germany. "So-Called Chaos" was able to repeat this success two years later with co-producers John Shanks and Tim Thorney, and was her lightest work to date, as the opening "Eight Easy Steps" already suggested. In 2008, "Flavors Of Entanglement" proved that Alanis Morissette could once again surprise herself and her listeners.
